Our Story
Built by family.
Built for yours.
My family runs sober living homes. Not as investors. Not as advisors. They are the ones waking up every morning to manage residents, collect rent, and handle whatever comes through the door.
I’m the family’s software designer. I’ve spent my career building products, and when I saw how my family was running their homes, I couldn’t look away. Spreadsheets everywhere. Rent tracked in text messages. Applicant info scattered across notebooks, phones, and sticky notes. They were working harder than they needed to because the tools didn’t exist.
They tried other software. Every option was either built for large treatment centers with clinical staff, or it was so complicated that setting it up felt like a second job. One tool required a 45-minute sales demo before they could even see the price. Another charged $250 just to get started. My family tried them and went back to doing everything by hand. It was honestly easier.
That’s when I said, “Let me build something.”
How we built it
I sat with my family and watched how they worked. Not for a day. For months. I watched them screen applicants over the phone while cooking dinner. I watched them chase rent payments through three different apps. I watched them handwrite chore schedules on a whiteboard every Sunday night.
Then I mapped out every single task they did in a day and asked one question: how much of this can the software just handle?
The answer was almost all of it.
Applicants now apply on a website that builds itself. Every application gets scored automatically. When my family approves someone, the acceptance email, the intake packet, and the documents all send themselves. One click to move someone in. Rent invoices go out on their own. Late fees apply on their own. Chores rotate on their own.
My family went from spending hours a day on paperwork and phone calls to spending minutes. The rest of their time goes where it should: their residents.
“Every feature in RecoveryOS exists because someone in my family said, ‘I wish the app could do this.’ None of it was guessed. All of it was asked for.”
Why RecoveryOS is different
Most sober living software is built by software companies. They hire researchers, run focus groups, and build what they think operators need. The result is complicated tools designed by people who have never collected rent from a resident or screened an applicant at 10pm.
RecoveryOS is the opposite. It was built inside a sober living operation, by the people running it, to solve the problems they actually had. Not compliance checkboxes. Not clinical workflows. The real stuff: filling beds, getting paid, running the house, and not burning out.
We didn’t raise money from investors. We didn’t hire a sales team. We built a product that works, priced it fairly, and let operators try it for $1. If it saves you time, you’ll stay. If it doesn’t, you’ll cancel. That’s how it should work.
Who this is for
RecoveryOS is for the operator who does everything. The person who screens applicants, collects rent, handles maintenance requests, updates chore schedules, and still finds time to actually be there for their residents.
Whether you run one home or ten, if you’re spending more time on administrative work than on the people in your house, something is broken. RecoveryOS fixes it.
If that sounds like you, we built this for you.
Alec Rodriguez
Founder & Designer, RecoveryOS
Alec is a software designer who builds tools for the recovery housing industry. His family operates sober living homes, and RecoveryOS started as the internal tool they needed to run their own operation. He designed and built every part of the product, from the resident portal to the billing system to the website builder. When he’s not writing code, he’s talking to operators about what they need next.
